Introduction
Scaled down from the extremely popular Slow Ultra Stick 1.2m and inspired by the classic ParkZone Ember models, the E-flite UMX Slow Ultra Stick is an ultra-micro "slow flyer" that can be flown in even more places and smaller spaces! Use a range of 1S batteries for flying indoors in gymnasiums, garages, and other suitable spaces or to fly outside almost anywhere in calm to low wind conditions. The UMX Slow Ultra Stick is capable of slow and easy cruising and performing basic aerobatics including loops. You can even install the optional LED light set to fly in darker conditions and at night. Plus, you can choose between two factory-assembled versions: the convenient, all-in-one-box RTF (Ready-To-Fly) version that includes a Spektrum battery, charger, and an SLT6 transmitter equipped with a USB-C port for direct connection to a PC for easy plug-and-play use of the included trial version of the RealFlight Trainer Edition RC flight simulator. Or the BNF (Bind-N-Fly®) Basic version that helps you lower costs by using your own compatible Spektrum DSMX/SLT-equipped transmitter, battery, and charger. Either way, you can be flying almost anywhere in just the time it takes to charge a battery!
Overview
The E-flite UMX Slow Ultra Stick is simple and affordable. It's also incredibly easy and fun to fly for low-time to experienced pilots looking for a no-hassles fly-almost-anywhere experience they can't get with any other model! Based on the more modern-day design of the Slow Ultra Stick 1.2m and inspired by similar "slow flyer" models from the past, it can be flown in even more places and smaller spaces - indoors and out. Use a 1S 100-150mAh battery to fly indoors in garages, conference rooms, and gymnasiums. Or, use up to a 210mAh battery to fly outdoors almost anywhere in calm to low wind conditions. You can even fly in lower light conditions and at night after installing the optional LED light set (EFL-1113)!
The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) version includes everything needed to fly in one box and is a perfect choice if you're looking for maximum convenience and value. From the Spektrum SLT6 2.4GHz transmitter you can use with other Bind-N-Fly® (BNF) Basic aircraft compatible with SLT FHSS technology to the 1S 150mAh LiPo battery and a convenient USB charger that can be used with a variety of power sources, there's nothing extra you need to buy or provide! A BNF Basic version is also available for pilots who want to use their favorite Spektrum DSMX-equipped transmitter along with batteries and chargers they may already own. Both versions include exclusive AS3X® and optional-use SAFE® Select technologies, plus a reliable power system featuring a "pop off" prop saver design, a control unit including an ESC, servos, and a dual-protocol (DSMX and SLT FHSS) receiver that are factory-installed in the lightweight yet durable airframe that's nearly ready to fly right out of the box. Simply install the wing by quickly and easily snapping it into place and you can be flying in almost no time!
Although we recommend learning to fly RC with one of our purpose-built trainer aircraft, such as the HobbyZone® Apprentice STOL S 700mm, the RTF version also includes a Steam® key to download and activate a trial version of the RealFlight® Trainer Edition RC flight simulator. The simulator features many of the most popular Horizon Hobby trainer airplanes, helicopters, and built-in Virtual Flight Instructor lessons. This helps new and low-time pilots learn to fly successfully by practicing on a desktop PC at home or on a laptop just about anywhere else! Simply use a USB-C cable to connect the included SLT6 transmitter to a compatible USB port on your computer to fly for up to 100 minutes. Then, you can purchase RealFlight Trainer Edition or Evolution to fly any time and for as long as you'd like!

Skill Level 2 – Next Step After a Trainer, Some Experience Required
"Next Step" aircraft, like this one, are the best choice for those who have successfully learned to fly with a trainer and are ready to graduate to their next aircraft. It's also an easy and extremely fun to fly model for experienced pilots!
Are you new to flying RC (Radio Controlled) aircraft? Although the UMX Slow Ultra Stick is very easy to fly, we recommend learning to fly with one of our purpose-built trainer aircraft, such as the HobbyZone® Apprentice STOL S 700mm. It's the most capable, durable, and easiest-to-fly ultra-micro trainer yet because it's equipped with exclusive and innovative SAFE technology that makes it possible for almost anyone to learn to fly successfully! The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) version includes everything needed to fly and is a perfect choice for a new RC pilot.
Uniquely Capable
The simple design was inspired by classic "Stick" models from the past and is scaled down from the more modern-day design of the Slow Ultra Stick 1.2m. This results in an ultra-micro-sized "slow flyer" that's easy and fun to fly in even more places and smaller spaces! From indoors in garages, conference rooms, and gymnasiums to outdoors in yards, parks, and almost anywhere else.
Durable Design
The unique "pop off" prop saver design plus the lightweight yet durable airframe is tough enough to handle everyday flying punishment without getting bent out of shape. And if you damage any airframe parts or components and can't repair them, a full line of replacement/spare parts is readily available.
Factory Assembled
The UMX Slow Ultra Stick arrives factory-assembled and nearly ready to fly right out of the box. Simply install the one-piece wing that quickly and easily snaps into place without fasteners or tools, and you're ready to fly!
Optional LED Lights
Install the optional LED light set (sold separately; EFL-1113) for improved visibility during daylight conditions and to fly in darker conditions or even at night.
Already own a Spektrum transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly and fly!
This Bind-N-Fly Basic model is equipped with a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSMX receiver featuring AS3X (Artificial Stabilization-3-aXis) technology that works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence so you enjoy a sense of stability and precision that makes it feel like you're flying a much larger, expertly tuned aircraft.
If this is your first model of its type, or you want an extra margin of safety while familiarizing yourself with the airplane, you can enable the optional-use SAFE Select flight envelope protection technology built into the receiver. No programming is required.
With SAFE Select enabled, you get:
Pitch and Bank Angle Limits
- These envelope limits keep the airplane from rolling or pitching upside down. They also prevent excessive climb or dive angles.
Automatic Self-Leveling
- The airplane instantly returns to and holds level flight when the sticks are released and in the center position. It's also helpful for keeping the wings level during takeoffs/launches and landings.
Easy Switch Assignment-No Complex Programming Required
- The simple procedure for assigning a transmitter switch to turn SAFE Select features on and off doesn't require any complex programming and takes just a few seconds. For UMX models like this one, SAFE Select is automatically assigned to channel 5 (Gear) so you can turn it on and off with any switch assigned to that channel (switch A by default on most Spektrum computer transmitters).
